14 September 2017

The Prime Minister, Clément Mouamba, who visited the construction site of the Denis Sassou N'guesso University on September 14, 2017, at about 17 km from the capital city, in the Commune of Kintele, has noted the progress of construction work on the Denis Sassou N'guesso University.

Buildings that emerge from the ground and take shape on the site. It is noted that the construction work on this gigantic structure is proceeding normally and is currently at the stage of completion of the structural work on some buildings, notably those in Pavilion 7.

The members of the government present on this site, including Jean Jacques Bouya of Development, Territorial Equipment and Public Works; Bruno Richard Jean Itoua of higher education; Calixte Ganongo of finance and budget; Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babakas of planning, statistics and regional integration around the Prime Minister, Clement Mouamba, were kind enough to take the temperature and see the possibility of opening a few modules for the next academic year.

"It is an important project that is 27% completed. We note that the work is going well and 1500 workers are on the job. We will try to re-evaluate it and explore the possibility of opening a few modules, starting in October. The site is threatened by the gullying of the soil, it is therefore right for the government to preserve this site and to find indispensable solutions, as soon as possible, to deal with the erosions that have occurred around the site," said Prime Minister Clément Mouamba.

Carried out by the company Unicon Development, for a contractual period of 36 months, on a 350-hectare site, the Denis Sassou N'guesso University of Kintele has 37 buildings divided into 4 areas served by 5 km of roads, various networks, parking lots and green spaces, with a capacity of about 30.000 students.

The educational and administrative services area houses the services of the Rectorate; the Central Library and the Audiovisual Centre; the Restaurant; the Higher School of Telecommunications and NICTs; the Higher Institute of Education; the Science and Technology Faculties devoted to training in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Genetics, Geology and Computer Sciences.

This area also includes the School of Mines, Hydraulics and Energy for the professions of Oil, Mines, Water and Energy; the Higher School of Buildings and Public Works; the Higher Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Communication; the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Techniques and finally, the Higher Institute of Sports and Physical Education, as well as Amphitheatres, the largest of which will have 1966 seats.

The construction of this university establishment is the result of the vision of the Head of State and his unfailing efforts made, for more than a decade, in the realization of large-scale infrastructures with a strong social vocation, in order to hatch a dream from which the foundations of the modernization of university structures spring, the obsolescence of several buildings leaving no one indifferent.

As the second largest public university in Congo, the Denis Sassou N'guesso University will play an important and active role in developing innovative processes, which will be the real breeding ground for future growth, with a view to shaping high-performance managers.

This university will make it possible to solve the problems of overcrowding in certain faculties of the Marien Ngouabi University whose structures are to be rehabilitated.

The area intended for university services offers, among other things, medical and general maintenance centres; a police station and fire station; and a sewage treatment plant.

The residential zone focuses on the residences of the Rector, teachers and students. The teachers' residences are distributed as follows: 35 one-bedroom apartments, 29 two-bedroom apartments and 84 three-bedroom apartments.

In the sports area, there are a number of facilities related to sports activities, including a football stadium of Olympic standards with a capacity of 3.000, with an athletics track for 1.700 people; a sports centre with football, basketball, volleyball and handball courts and multifunctional equipment for gymnastics, weight training and an indoor Olympic swimming pool.

All of these buildings contain all the amenities worthy of a structure the size of this ultra-modern university whose ambition extends beyond the borders of our country.
