Cooperation projects at the centre of an audience between Minister BOUYA and the new Chinese ambassador to Congo

10 April 2018

The new Chinese ambassador to Congo, His Excellency Ma FULIN, was received in audience on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, by the Minister of Development, Territorial Equipment and Public Works, Mr. Jean Jacques BOUYA.

The two personalities reviewed the state of implementation of bilateral cooperation projects between the Republic of Congo and the People's Republic of China. This cooperation is supported by the Strategic Partnership signed in 2006, which became the Global Strategic Cooperation Partnership at the end of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), held from 3 to 5 December 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

During this meeting, the two statesmen notably discussed the interest of finalizing ongoing projects such as the construction of the twin towers in Mpila, the Brazzaville Mall in Mpila, the new headquarters of the two houses of parliament, the Oyo Trade School and the Brazzaville Transport Institute.

Minister Jean Jacques Bouya and Ambassador Ma FULLIN also exchanged views on the prospect of the implementation of other development projects such as the construction of the Special Economic Zone and the Mineral Port in Pointe-Noire, the Urban City of Ngamakosso, the third phase of the national telecommunications coverage, the project for the migration from analog to digital of the national television and radio, the modernization of the CFCO, etc.

Ambassador Ma Fullin reaffirmed that the global nature of the strategic partnership must now be reflected in the change of paradigms and working methods. For the Chinese diplomat, development projects represent a higher stage of economic cooperation.

Satisfied with the content of this audience, Minister Jean Jacques BOUYA was pleased with the attention of his host and his mastery of cooperation issues.

It should be noted that the two officials appreciated the growing interest of Chinese direct investments in Congo, and welcomed the determination of the two States to pursue the effective implementation of projects eligible for the Forum on Sino-African Cooperation whose next edition will be held in September 2018 in Beijing.
