Drinking water distribution network in Brazzaville is being modernized

As part of the debt-relief and development contract, the French Development Agency intends to support Congo in providing drinking water in the peripheral neighbourhoods of Brazzaville.

To this end, the coordinator of public contracts and regulations, Ms. Caddy Elisabeth NDALA, representing Minister Jean Jacques BOUYA, presided over the opening ceremony for tenders relating to the extension, renewal of the drinking water network and the completion of several connections in Brazzaville, on January 30, 2018, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development, Territorial Equipment and Public Works.

This project of capital importance for urban populations who still experience many difficulties in the supply and consumption of drinking water, focuses in particular on:

  • the network to be extended over 690 km;
  • the network to be renewed over 211 km;
  • 62 thousand 6 hundred and 31 connections;
  • operational additions to PEPS, among others:
    • supply and laying of underground electric cables, 20 KV;
    • supply and installation of cast iron pipes DN 400 mm PN, over 2.8 km;
    • supply and installation of 2 pressure reducers DN 250 mm;
    • supply and installation of motorized valve DN 800 mm;
    • replacement of 3 pumps for a total flow of 225 m3 / h;
    • the construction of a pumping station of 37 m3 / h.
  • finally, work to replace 83 valves in the primary distribution network in Brazzaville, including various accessories.

Three companies submitted bids on the tender.

These are: the SOGEA-SATOM / SGE-C Congo / RAZEL-BEC group of companies and the EIFFAGE Génie Civil and Denys companies.

The amounts proposed for the execution of the project oscillate between 19 and 46 billion, the extension works will extend over 690 km and those for the renewal of the drinking water distribution network over 211km. The populations will also benefit from 62 thousand 6 hundred 31 connections.

The company awarded the contract will be known after examining the files.
